The amount and nature of the personal information Bridgewater Bank may require will depend on the nature of the products or services you request. Additional appropriate personal information may be collected to provide you with the particular service or product you have requested. The choice to provide personal information is always yours, but may affect the availability and quality of the products and services provided by Bridgewater Bank.
Why Bridgewater Bank Collects Personal Information
Bridgewater Bank is committed to providing innovative financial products and services to Canadian banking consumers. All suppliers and investors are bound by strict contractual obligations designed to protect the privacy and security of your personal information.
Collection and Use of Your Social Insurance Number
When opening an interest bearing deposit or investment account, the Canadian Income Tax Act requires Bridgewater Bank to request your Social Insurance Number (SIN).
While the law requires Bridgewater Bank to ask for your SIN when you open an interest bearing account, Bridgewater Bank must obtain your consent to use your SIN in any other way. When Bridgewater Bank obtains a report and updates your information with a credit bureau, your SIN is the best way to ensure that the information actually refers to you. The choice to provide your SIN is always yours. However, incorrect information may lead us to make incorrect conclusions about you. If you choose not to provide your SIN, this by itself will not prevent you from obtaining credit or any other service. However, it may prevent Bridgewater Bank from accurate identification.
